has reported.
This comes after two policemen in the convoy of the speaker, Chikwendu Kalu, reportedly shot the FRSC officers, who stopped the vehicle in which the speaker’s wife was travelling, for not fastening their seat belts.
The policemen also allegedly vandalised the FRSC patrol vehicles and left the two men in the pool of their own blood. It was gathered that other road users drove them to the hospital. The policemen involved in the shooting have been detained on the order of the state Commissioner of Police.
The Corps Education Officer, FRSC, Commander Bisi Kazeem, confirmed that the FRSC officials were in stable condition, adding that the Corps Marshal, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, was in touch with the hospital treating them.
He stated that the police authorities had also assured the corps that the errant cops would face the law, adding that they had been detained and would face Orderly Room trial subsequently.
“The state Commissioner of Police has assured the Corps that investigation has been launched into the incident and the two policemen have been detained. We have confidence in the police to carry out a thorough investigation and ensure that justice is done,” Kazeem said.
