Quit notice: Ganduje reveals what will happen to south-easterners in Kano state

- Governor Ganduje has assured Igbos of their safety in Kano state
- Ganduje's assurance was to douse fears regarding the Arewa quit notice order
- The governor said there are strangers in Kano state, claiming that everyone has the rights to live in peace
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state has declared that Igbos residing in the state will be utterly protected from any hate violence.

Ganduje made the declaration against the backdrop of the quit notice issued by the Arewa youths asking Igbos to vacate the North by October 1.
According to Daily Post, the governor said this while addressing reporters at the national secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja on Wednesday, July 28.
Ganduje maintained that every resident in Kano was an indigene of the state, deserving equal rights as binding by Nigerian law.
He disclosed that his administration had abolished the indigene/settler dichotomy in running the affairs of the state and as such Igbos were free to remain.

According to Ganduje: “Nobody gave a quit notice in Kano. Even when they heard (about it), they (Igbo) said they were not going anywhere and we too told them that they are not going anywhere.
“So, it is an issue that we in Kano, want to show as an example of national integration.
“Therefore, in Kano we are speaking with the people and, in fact, we have even abolished the issue of indigenes versus settlers.“Everybody in Kano is an indigene of Kano but there are some indigenes of Kano with primordial claim which is a fact.”
In a similar vein, the chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has faulted the quit notice issued by Arewa youths to Igbos residing in the north.
Dangote speaking at a meeting with a team of business executives from the Lagos Business School on Saturday, June 24, described those who issued the quit noticed to the Igbos as persons with no relevance and values, the Nation reports.
